Savasana

Lying still on your back with the whole body relaxed - the closing rest of a recovery session, letting the nervous system settle after training.

Setup

Lie flat on your back, legs slightly apart and relaxed, arms a little away from the sides with the palms up. A folded towel under the head or knees is fine.

How to do it

  1. Close the eyes and let the whole body sink into the floor.
  2. Breathe slowly, letting each exhale release a little more tension.
  3. Stay for the target time without fidgeting.
  4. Come out gently - roll to one side before sitting up.

Coach's notes

Cover up if you cool down quickly; a chilled body will not relax.
