At 50, I Traded Climbing Ropes for a 250-Mile Race

At 50, I traded the rope for running shoes.

Rock and ice climbing was my whole life. Then life changed, and running pulled me out the door. For my 50th birthday I ran Rim to Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon: 48 miles and 10,000 feet of gain. Then came my first 100 miler. I finished 3rd overall and 1st in my age group, and a 70-year-old woman won the whole race. Respect.

After that I developed edema. My coach Taylor knew my health history after COVID and guided me safely to the right treatment. That's the support I needed: a sound training plan and a watchful coach.

That's why I co-founded Fit PA. It has a truly rational coach (not a chatbot), adaptive training plans for every distance, nutrition that works with your workouts, and form analysis. If it works for me, with very specific health constraints, it can work for you. Now I'm 54 and training for Cocodona 250.
