Setup
Stand tall on flat ground or with the balls of your feet on a step edge (heels hanging). Fingertips on a wall for balance.
How to do it
- Rise as high as you can onto the balls of the feet — full height every rep.
- Pause a beat at the top.
- Lower SLOWLY — 2–3 seconds — through the fullest comfortable range.
- Keep the knees straight to bias the upper calf.
Common mistakes
- Fast bouncy reps using tendon spring rather than muscle.
- Partial height at the top.
- Rolling onto the outside of the foot — press through the big toe.
Scale it
Easier: Two legs up, two legs down, flat ground.
Harder: Single-leg, add dumbbells, or do them off a step for extra range.
